Terms of Service
The boring-but-important rules for using our platform. Last updated: May 2026.
1. What This Is
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the #hackthekitty hackathon platform operated by coding.kitty ("we", "us", "our"). By using this platform, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform. Simple as that.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use this platform. If you're under 18, you should have a parent or guardian who's cool with you participating. We reserve the right to ask for verification if needed.
3. Your Account
- You're responsible for keeping your account secure.
- Don't share your login credentials with others.
- Let us know immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
- We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Hackathon Participation
- All submissions must be original work created during the hackathon period.
- You retain ownership of your code and intellectual property.
- By submitting, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to showcase your project on our platform and social media.
- Be respectful to other participants, judges, and organisers.
- No plagiarism, cheating, or using pre-built projects.
5. Acceptable Use
Don't use this platform to:
- Harass, bully, or discriminate against anyone.
- Submit malicious code, spam, or harmful content.
- Attempt to hack, exploit, or disrupt the platform.
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity.
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
6. Content & IP
You own what you build. We don't claim ownership of your hackathon projects. However, any content you post on the platform (comments, ideas, descriptions) should be yours to share. Don't post copyrighted material that isn't yours.
7. Disclaimers
This platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep things running smoothly, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime or that everything will work perfectly all the time. We're a small team doing our best.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, coding.kitty and its organisers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this platform. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us (which is probably $0, since this is free).
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know through the platform or via email. Continued use after changes means you accept the new Terms.
