World Cat
Domination Day

The cats are taking over. Your job? Help them do it.

#hackthekitty 2026

So... what does this mean?

Cats already run the internet. Now it's time they run everything.

Your mission is to build a project that helps cats take over the world (in a good way). We're talking about projects that drive positive impact for cats, cat owners, and the broader cat community. Think of it as world domination, but wholesome.

Whether it's an app that helps stray cats find homes, a tool that makes vet visits less stressful, or a platform that connects cat lovers to volunteer at shelters, if it makes the world better for cats (and the humans who serve them), it counts.

Project Inspiration

For the cats

Adoption platforms, lost cat finders, health trackers, feeding schedulers, or anything that makes a cat's life cushier than it already is.

For cat owners

Vet appointment reminders, cat behaviour decoders, expense trackers, community forums, or tools that help humans be better cat servants.

For the community

Shelter volunteer coordination, TNR (trap-neuter-return) mapping, fundraising tools, or platforms connecting cat rescue organisations.

For developers

Cat-themed dev tools, APIs for cat data, open-source libraries with cat puns in the docs, or anything that makes coding more feline-friendly.

The Rules

  • Your project must relate to the theme. If it doesn't involve cats or the cat community in some way, it's not eligible.
  • "Positive impact" is the key phrase. We want projects that help, not harm. No cat villain lairs (unless they're satirical and still do something useful).
  • You can interpret the theme creatively. A cat-themed productivity app? Sure. A game where cats conquer cities by being adorable? Absolutely. An AI that translates meows? Go for it.
  • The project must be built during the hackathon. No pre-existing projects rebranded with cat emojis.
  • Use whatever tech stack you want. Web, mobile, CLI, hardware, doesn't matter. As long as it works and fits the theme.
